Hot Weather Guidelines

As we deal with warmer temperatures, we must take extra caution to stay hydrated and limit physical activity when necessary to avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke.  BVM has Hot Weather Guidelines that we follow to help decision-makers determine what actions are appropriate when temperatures rise.  These guidelines take into account both temperature and humidity.  When humidity levels are high, there is a greater chance of heat-related conditions.  Students are always provided opportunities to drink water before during and after PE classes.  In a 52 minute period during a typical day when weather conditions are normal, students have a minimum of four opportunities to drink water.  On hot days, PE teachers provide additional water breaks as necessary.  If you’d like to learn more, please click the link below:
